Fertility building leys in arable rotations and ruminant diets: Field lab 3 at Wimpole Hall Farm, Royston, Cambridgeshire, SG8 0BW

This Duchy Originals Future Farming Programme field lab, facilitated by ORC's Mark Measures will focus on:

  • Increased forage yield for sheep and cattle
  • Improved nitrogen fixation and release to following arable crops
  • Resilience to variable environmental conditions
  • Benefit for bees and other pollinators
  • Prepare for new Defra support for diverse mixtures in 2016
  • Discuss what mixtures might suit your farm

Meeting 2 - 18 June: At the second meeting at Wimpole Hole Farm, we will review plans for the field lab and experiences of attendees. Richard Morris (Farm Manager at Wimpole Farm) will also provide an overview of the species selection and establishment at Wimpole. We will also have a farm tour.
