Institute of Organic Training and Advice

Information, training and accreditation for organic advisers and trainers

The Institute of Organic Training and Advice (IOTA) is a professional body for UK and Irish trainers, advisers and other extension workers involved in organic food and farming.

IOTA was borne out of a need for recognised standards of professional conduct on the one hand and better access to information, training and support for extension workers on the other.

The Institute is a division of Organic Research Centre (ORC); it is directed by Mark Measures and advised by a steering committee consisting of representatives from ORC, the Soil Association, OCW and independent adviser/trainer members.

Launched in 2005, IOTA was developed with support and funding from ADAS, Elm Farm Research Centre, Organic Centre Wales and Soil Association.

IOTA is grateful for the financial contributions from Natural England and Yeo Valley Organics and the support of Abacus Organic Associates.
